Small molecule NOP agonists reverse locomotor sensitization induced by cocaine in male C57BL/6 mice
2024, Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological PsychiatryInvolvement of dopamine D2 receptor in a single methamphetamine-induced behavioral sensitization in C57BL/6J mice
2018, Neuroscience LettersCitation Excerpt :The neurochemical mechanism underlying the re-challenge-induced manifestation of behavioral sensitization is the enhanced release of dopamine from presynaptic nerve terminals [13]. In vivo microdialysis studies have reported that sensitized animals show profound increases of DA responses in the dorsal and ventral striatum, nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex [14–18]. Dopamine D2 receptors are also involved in the behavioral sensitization to methamphetamine.
Dose response effect of methylphenidate on ventral tegmental area neurons and animal behavior
2013, Brain Research BulletinJuvenile exposure to methylphenidate reduces cocaine reward and alters netrin-1 receptor expression in adulthood
2012, Behavioural Brain ResearchNucleus accumbens neuronal activity in freely behaving rats is modulated following acute and chronic methylphenidate administration
2012, Brain Research BulletinCitation Excerpt :This possibility can be supported by the report that super sensitivity of D1-like DA receptors in the NAc, as a result of repetitive exposure to psychostimulants, leads to the expression of the sensitized response [99,100]. Psychostimulant exposure induced changes in the release characteristics of DA [43,44,75,88] and/or alteration in DA-stimulated signal transduction mechanisms [60,81–83] are responsible for the alteration of the electrophysiological activity and animal behavioral such as behavioral sensitization and/or tolerance. Similar interpretations can be in NAc remote areas that ascend to the NAc and following rechallenge with MPD exert either excitatory or inhibitory effect on NAc units.
