Efficacy of serotonergic antidepressant treatment for the neuropsychiatric symptoms and agitation in dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis
2021, Ageing Research ReviewsCitation Excerpt :We extracted the data on the levels of overall NPS and agitation according to the most commonly used scales in the included studies. The NPI(Cummings et al., 1994) was the most frequently used scale to assess overall NPS, followed by behavioral symptoms subscale of the Gottfries-Bråne-Steen (GBS) geriatric rating scale (Gottfries et al., 1982), the Behavioral Pathology in Alzheimer's disease Rating Scale (BEHAVE-AD) (Reisberg et al., 1987), the Neurobehavioral Rating Scale (NBRS) (Mulsant et al., 1997), Stuard Hospital Geriatric Rating Scale (Passeri and Cucinotta, 1983), and Behavioral rating scale for dementia (BRSD) (Tariot et al., 1995). To assess agitation, the scales used were Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (Cohen-Mansfield, 1986), the agitation subscale of the NPI, the agitation subscale of NBRS, and Agitation Behaviors in Dementia Scale (ABID) (Logsdon et al., 1999).

Developing and validating a Japanese version of the Assessment of Pain in Elderly People with Communication Impairment
2013, Archives of Gerontology and GeriatricsCitation Excerpt :The original version of the GBSS-J was developed to measure degrees of progression of dementia and to profile dementia syndromes (Robert et al., 2010). Its 4 subscales are motor functions (6 items, range: 0–36), intellectual functions (11 items, range: 0–66), emotional functions (3 items, range: 0–18), and different symptoms common in dementia (6 items, range: 0–36); each item is assigned 0–6 points (Gottfries, Brane, Gullberg, & Steen, 1982). Higher scores indicate lower levels or severe symptoms of dementia.
