Translational approach to studying panic disorder in rats: Hits and misses
2014, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral ReviewsCitation Excerpt :These results support the involvement of DPAG in behavioural effects of uncontrollable stress. Ample evidence suggests, on the other hand, that the protective effect of controllable stress is mediated by prefrontal cortex efferents to the DPAG-projecting neurons of the DRN (Maier et al., 1995; Neumaier et al., 1997; Celada et al., 2001; Amat et al., 2005, 2006; Maier and Watkins, 2005; Gonçalves et al., 2009; Rozeske et al., 2011). The prosencephalic structures also control the DRN activity via the stria medullaris-habenula-fasciculus retroflexus system (Amat et al., 2001).
Regulation of dorsal raphe nucleus function by serotonin autoreceptors: A behavioral perspective
2011, Journal of Chemical NeuroanatomyThe Role of Serotonin in Depression
2010, Handbook of Behavioral NeuroscienceCitation Excerpt :The 5-HT1B receptor is regulated by exposure to behavioral tests for antidepressants and following chronic antidepressant treatments. The stress of the LH procedure causes an up-regulation of the 5-HT1B receptor in the cortex, hippocampus, septum and dorsal raphe (Edwards et al., 1991; Neumaier et al., 1997). Chronic AD treatment decreases the mRNA of the 5-HT1B receptor in the dorsal raphe and decreases the efficacy of 5-HT1B autoreceptors, which may lead to an increase in 5-HT release (Neumaier et al., 1996; Piñeyro and Blier, 1999; Anthony and Sexton, 2000; Gur et al., 2000).
